About this worksheet
Two instructions, six toys each. The top half asks for all the stuffed animals, and a teddy bear, a plush bunny and a grey elephant with a bow are the three to circle, with a toy robot, a red telephone and a jump rope sitting alongside them. The bottom half asks for the building blocks, where a red cube, a blue cylinder and a yellow triangular block are the answers, and a trumpet, a ring stacker and a pinwheel are not.
The block half is the more interesting one to talk through. A ring stacker is a stacking toy but it is not a block, and children often want to count it. That small argument is worth having out loud, because it is really a question about what makes a category.
