About this worksheet
Six rows of rockets, smiling stars, ringed planets, little green aliens, moons and flying saucers. Each row has a subtraction problem beside it, and the child crosses out the number being taken away, then writes how many are left.
Two of the rows start at 10, so a child counts a full ten before taking any away. That makes 10 − 7 and 10 − 3 a good early look at the pairs that make ten, which come back again and again in first grade.
The moon row is 6 − 6, a useful moment to stop and ask what is left when everything is crossed out.
