About this worksheet

A bare Christmas tree sits inside a frame of string lights with a few snowflakes falling beside it. Below, seven directions to work through in order. Draw a yellow star at the top, six red ornaments on the tree, three gold bells, two wrapped presents underneath, a snowman beside it, then color the tree green and finish the picture.

Each direction quietly asks for something different: a position, a count, a color. A child who draws the presents on the tree rather than under it has told you exactly which word slipped past, which is more useful than a right or wrong answer would be. The reward for getting through the list is a finished picture, so the coloring at the end is the point rather than filler.
