About this worksheet

Six bunches of four balloons float across the page, each balloon carrying a number and each bunch followed by four boxes to fill in order. When the ordering is done, the balloons are there to color.

Putting the numbers on balloons rather than in a row changes the job slightly, because the four are not sitting in a tidy line to be scanned left to right. A child has to look around the bunch to find the smallest, which is closer to what comparing numbers actually asks for. The last bunch runs 20, 11, 6, 1, already in descending order, and reversing it is a satisfying way to finish. It prints in black and white.

What students will practice

  • Compare numbers within 20
  • Arrange four numbers from smallest to largest
  • Color line art after finishing the work
