About this worksheet
Fourteen subtraction equations within 10, each with one number hidden in a dashed box. Most of the time it sits in the middle (9 − ? = 6), and sometimes it comes first (? − 2 = 7).
The ones that start with the box take the most thought, because that missing number is the biggest in the equation and adding is the quickest way to find it.
A magnifying glass at the top sets up the mystery, which helps a harder kind of problem feel like a puzzle.
