About this worksheet
Eight boxes of cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies, each with a subtraction problem underneath. The child crosses out the treats being taken away and writes how many are left. The first box, 10 − 3, is already done as an example.
Crossing out real things is what subtraction means before it is anything else, and every picture here matches its number sentence exactly, so a child can check an answer by counting what is still standing.
It is a good first page for a child who is new to subtraction or who needs to go back to pictures for a while.
