About this worksheet
Ten pairs of problems within 20. The child solves an addition clue like 6 + ? = 14, then writes that same number as the answer to 14 − 6.
Addition usually comes more easily than subtraction, and this is the strategy that lets a child use one to do the other. Writing the same number in both boxes makes the connection hard to miss.
Once a child has done a few, try covering the clue and asking what addition problem would help. That is the habit the page is building.
