About this worksheet

Four sharing problems fill the page: apples into baskets, marbles into bags, cookies onto plates and crayons into boxes. Each one gives a child a box to draw the groups before the division sentence is written, which is what turns a story into something they can actually see.

Drawing first matters more here than it looks. Most children who stall on division word problems are not stuck on the arithmetic, they are stuck on deciding which number is being shared out and which number says how many groups.
