About this worksheet
Five boxes of bakery treats run down the left side: three cupcakes, five cookies, one donut, four slices of cake and two pretzels. The numbers 1 to 5 sit on the right in mixed order, and a child counts each box and draws a line to the number that matches.
Because the numbers are shuffled, a child cannot just draw five straight lines across. They have to count, then go looking for the right numeral, which is the step that turns reciting numbers into actually knowing what 4 means. The dots at each end give little hands a clear place to start and stop the line.
