Fall Sentence Fix-Up: Grade 3 Punctuation Worksheet

About this worksheet

Six sentences are printed entirely in lowercase with no marks at all, and the child rewrites each one correctly on the ruled line below. Every sentence carries more than one thing to fix: “my friend maya moved to denver colorado” needs three capitals and a comma, “did you read the book the cat in the hat” needs a capital, a title in the right case and a question mark, and “can we bake apple pie tonight asked lily” needs quotation marks wrapped around the spoken part.

Rewriting the whole sentence rather than marking up the printed one is deliberate, because it forces every decision to be made again in the child’s own handwriting. Pumpkins and leaves run along the border, which makes it an easy one to slot into the first weeks of the school year.
