Circle the Correct CVC Words Worksheet for Kindergarten

About this worksheet

Six pictures, each with three words underneath. The three are always close together: cot, cat and cut for the cat, and big, bag and pig for the pig. Only one letter separates most of them.

That is the point of the sheet. A child who reads the first letter and guesses will get about a third of these right, and the pattern of their mistakes tells you a lot. Getting bed right but circling bad shows the vowel is the sticking point. Circling big for the pig shows the first letter was skipped entirely. There is no writing on the page, so it suits a child whose reading is ahead of their pencil work.
