CVC stands for consonant, vowel, consonant, which covers cat, pig, bus and most of the first words a child reads on their own. These sheets sit across two kindergarten standards: RF.K.2 for hearing and separating the sounds in a spoken word, which is sheets 03, 05 and 06, and RF.K.3 for matching letters to those sounds on the page, which is everything else.
The order matters more than usual here. Sheets 01 and 02 print the word for you and only ask a child to pick it out. Sheets 03 and 04 take the word away and ask for letters. By sheet 10 there is nothing to lean on but the picture and six loose letters. A child who stalls partway down the list has not hit a wall, they have just reached the point where the support was removed, and the sheet before it is the one to stay on.
Six of the ten are plain black on white and download as true vector PDFs, so they print sharp and cost almost nothing in ink for a class set. If you want more short vowel work afterwards, the kindergarten vowels set covers the same five sounds from the letter side.

If your kids finish a unit and you're not sure what to do next, my honest advice: don't move on yet. Spend a week mixing these in as warm-ups. Fluency isn't a unit, it's a habit, and the sheet that builds it is usually the one they ask to do again.
