Short I CVC Words Maze Worksheet for Kindergarten

About this worksheet

A four by four grid of words, start at the top left and finish at the bottom right, and the only rule is that every step has to be a short i word. The path runs pig, pin, six, lid, fin, hit and win, and the other nine words are there to be stepped over.

A maze is doing the same job as the sort, but it hides the work inside a puzzle, so a child who has had enough of worksheets will often still do this one. The decoys are all short vowel words too (cat, sun, hen, mop), so nothing can be ruled out by shape and every square has to be read. A wrong turn is easy to spot, since the path simply stops going anywhere.
