Twelve line drawings in a grid, and a two-crayon key at the top: living things green, things that are not living orange. The set runs a turtle, a shoe, a tulip, a mug, a pig, a drum, a caterpillar, a hat, an elephant, a bucket, a bird and a pair of scissors, which comes out at six each way. The finished page shows the sorting at a glance, since every green picture should be an animal or a plant.

Answering by coloring suits a child who is not writing much yet, and it stretches a ten minute idea into a calmer twenty minute activity. The tulip is the one that gets colored orange most often. It prints in black and white and is light on ink, so it runs off happily as a class set.
