About this worksheet
Twelve fractions, each above a shape split into equal parts: rectangles, circles, a hexagon and a square. The child colors in the right number of parts to show each one, from one fourth to seven eighths.
Most of the shapes have exactly as many parts as the denominator, but two are marked with a star as tricky ones. One half is shown on a bar with four parts and three fourths on a circle with eight, so the child has to think about what half of four pieces is rather than coloring the top number. That small twist is where real understanding of fractions shows up, and it previews equivalent fractions without saying so.
It is plain line art that prints in black and white, ready for crayons or colored pencils.
