About this worksheet
Three ruled lines frame this page, and there is no other decoration on it. Under the heading “Times Table Practice” and the subtitle “Single-Digit Multiplication,” nine problems fill a continuous 3 by 3 grid, each written vertically with a heavy rule beneath for the answer. The facts are 6x4, 2x7, 8x5, 3x9, 5x4, 7x6, 4x8, 9x3 and 6x7, so two pairs turn up in both directions: 3x9 with 9x3, and 7x6 with 6x7.
Those repeated pairs make the sheet useful for more than drill. Let a child work down the page, then ask what they notice about the pairs, since seeing that the order of the factors does not change the answer cuts the number of facts they have to memorize almost in half. The plain border also keeps it suitable for homework or a quiet check.
