About this worksheet
Four rows of apples, each labeled with its pattern type (AB, AAB, ABB and ABC) and with a letter printed on every apple. The child picks a crayon for A, a crayon for B and a crayon for C, marks them in the key at the top, and colors each apple to match its letter. The last row is blank, ready for a pattern of their own.
This is the sheet that gives patterns their names. Once a child has colored an ABB row in red and green, “ABB” stops being three letters and starts meaning something, and the same idea turns up again later in reading, music and math. A friendly worm peeks out of an apple in the corner, and the whole page prints in black and white.
