About this worksheet
Five smiling caterpillars, each with a body of colored circles that repeat in a pattern, and two empty circles at the tail. The child colors the last two circles to keep the pattern going.
Two blanks instead of one is the step up here. A child has to carry the pattern forward twice, which is where guessing stops working. The last caterpillar is an AABB pattern (orange, orange, green, green), so it is worth saying that one out loud together.
What students will practice
- Extend a color pattern by two steps
- Recognize AB, AAB, ABB, ABC and AABB patterns
