About this worksheet
Five rows of shape patterns, each started in solid outlines and continued in dotted ones. The child traces the dotted shapes to keep the pattern going, then draws the next shape in the empty box at the end of the row.
The patterns use circles, squares, triangles, hearts and rectangles, and they come in a few kinds: a simple back and forth (circle, square, circle, square), a pair followed by one (triangle, triangle, circle), and a three-shape repeat (square, circle, triangle). Tracing first means the child has already followed the pattern with a pencil before having to decide what comes next, which makes this a gentle place to start.
