About this worksheet

Five words down the left, five line-art pictures down the right, and a dot beside each one to join up. The words are hair, tooth, finger, foot and arm, and the pictures are drawn big and plain: a single tooth, a bare foot, a flexed arm, a hand with one finger raised, and a girl with long hair.

Five pairs is the right length for a first matching sheet. A child who is still sounding words out has enough room to work through each one without the page feeling endless, and the pictures are unmistakable, so a wrong line means the word was misread rather than the drawing being unclear. The whole sheet is black and white line art, so it costs almost nothing to print a stack, and any child who finishes early can color it in.

What students will practice

  • Read five body part words: hair, tooth, finger, foot, arm
  • Match each word to the picture that shows it
  • Draw a straight line between two dots
