Twelve outdoor scenes in warm retro colors, each on a cream circle with a writing line below: a girl on a swing, a boy down a slide, digging in a sandbox, catching a beach ball, splashing in a puddle, blowing bubbles, fishing, rowing, hopscotch, raking leaves, picking flowers and rolling down a hill. The word bank runs fish, hop, blow, pick, row, splash, rake, swing, roll, dig, catch and slide.
Every verb here is something a child has actually done outside, which makes it the easiest of the picture sets to start with. Splash and dig and swing come out of a kindergartner’s mouth without prompting, so the only new work on this page is connecting that spoken word to its written shape.
