Number Bonds Subtraction Worksheet for First Grade

About this worksheet

Six number bonds, each with the whole in the top circle and one part filled in below. The child works out the missing part and writes it in, then completes the subtraction sentence underneath: 13 − 5, 16 − 9, 17 − 7.

Number bonds make it easy to see what subtraction actually does. The whole splits into two parts, and taking one part away leaves the other, which is a picture a first grader can hold on to long after the page is done.

It is a short, uncluttered sheet, so it works as an introduction to the model before moving on to longer lists of problems.
