Ten Frame Subtraction Worksheet for Grade 1

About this worksheet

Six subtraction problems, each shown with red dots in a pair of ten frames. The child crosses out as many dots as the problem takes away and writes how many are left: 13 − 4, 16 − 9, 18 − 8.

Ten frames show a teen number as a full ten plus some more, which makes subtraction across ten much easier to picture. A child can take from the loose dots first, then dip into the full frame.

It is a short page with big, clear frames, so it suits a child who is still moving from counting objects to working with numbers.
