Nouns at the Zoo Worksheet for 1st Grade

About this worksheet

A trip to the zoo in three short parts. First the child underlines the nouns in six sentences about seals, a zebra, a keeper and sleeping lions. Then five sentences come with the noun already underlined (the gate, a tiger, a man, the pond and a ticket) and the child writes whether each is a person, place, thing or animal. Last, they write a sentence of their own and underline the noun in it.

The three parts build on each other: find a noun, then name what kind it is, then make one. That last line is the real test, because a child has to think up a noun rather than just spot one.

A zebra has stripes and the lions sleep all day both hold a second noun, stripes and day, which is worth pointing out to a child who stops at the first one.
