About this worksheet

Ten sentences and a word box holding and, but, or, so and because. Maya packed her lunch and her water bottle. The library was closed, so we went to the park instead. The puppy hid under the bed because it was afraid of the thunder.

Each word is the answer exactly twice. Nothing on the page says so, but a child who has used but four times has a built-in reason to go back and reread, and that rereading is where the learning happens.

The sentences run a little longer than on the earlier sheets, which makes this a good bridge between short practice sentences and the reading third graders do everywhere else.
