About this worksheet

A leafy vine border frames five rows of pears, twenty-five in all, each carrying one lowercase letter. Ten are vowels. Kids read their way across the rows and color only the pears holding a, e, i, o, or u. A small worm and a butterfly hide in the grid as a reward for looking closely.

The pears use open, rounded letterforms, which is deliberate: at this stage a child is still matching letter shapes, and a friendly single-story a is easier to recognize than a printed one. Pair it with the flower, star, and balloon versions when you want repetition without handing over the same picture twice.

What students will practice

  • Spot the five vowels inside a mixed letter grid
  • Say each letter name before deciding to color it
  • Practice steady coloring inside a rounded outline
