About this worksheet

Six labeled picture cards along the bottom of the page: grandma, baby, dad, sister, mom and brother. Cut them apart, then glue each one into the Grown-Ups column or the Kids column. Three go in each.

Sorting is what turns a list of family words into an idea. A child has to think about what each word actually means, not just recognize it, and the baby card is the one worth talking about, because plenty of five-year-olds will say a baby is not a kid at all. It is black and white line art, so a child who finishes early can color the cards before gluing.

What students will practice

  • Sort family members into grown-ups and kids
  • Read grandma, baby, dad, sister, mom and brother
  • Cut along a dashed line and glue into a space
