Zoe, Max, Nia and Owen have each saved a handful of coins, laid out in a table with a total column to fill in. Once the four totals are written, four questions put them to work: how much one child has, who has the most, how much more Nia has than Max, and how much Max and Owen have together.
The questions are where this sheet earns its place. Counting coins is one skill, and using the totals to compare and combine them is the step the 2nd grade standard actually asks for. The last answer goes past 80¢, so it doubles as a check on adding two-digit amounts.
