Five pet shop items each have a price and two empty boxes, Way 1 and Way 2. The child draws coins or a dollar bill in each box to make the price, writing the value inside every coin. A key at the top shows the penny, nickel, dime, quarter and dollar bill.
There is no single right answer, which is what sets this sheet apart from the rest of the set. A 25¢ dog bone can be one quarter or five nickels, and the $1.00 pet bed can be a bill or four quarters. A child who uses the fewest coins one way and lots of small coins the other is showing exactly the flexibility this skill is about. The 63¢ jar of treats is the trickiest, since three pennies have to come from somewhere.
