About this worksheet

Nine addition problems set in a rounded, friendly typeface, each with four circles to choose between. The child colors the circle with the correct sum, following the yellow example on the first row.

Doubles show up three times here, 1 + 1, 3 + 3 and the near-double 4 + 5. Doubles are usually the first facts a child recalls without counting, so a sheet that mixes them in gives a hesitant child a few quick wins between the problems they have to work out properly.

The numbers are large and well separated, which suits a child who is still learning to read an equation left to right. Sums reach 10 at 7 + 3 without ever going past it.
