About this worksheet

Eight numbered panels, each with an addition problem and three answers to choose between. The child colors the box showing the sum, following the shaded example on card 1.

Three of the eight add zero, which is the quiet point of this sheet. Adding nothing feels wrong to a lot of five year olds, and 3 + 0, 5 + 0 and 6 + 0 sitting one after another at the top gives them three chances to notice that the answer keeps coming back unchanged. After that the sheet moves on to 1 + 6, 3 + 5, 5 + 4, 3 + 7 and 2 + 6.

Eight problems is a short page on purpose. It suits a warm-up, a homework slip, or a child whose attention runs out well before a full sheet does.
