About this worksheet
Sixteen stacked problems in four rows of four, set off by teal rules at the top and bottom. Each has a box under the line for the answer.
It covers the same ground as the twenty-problem version but asks for four fewer, which is often the difference between a child finishing and a child giving up two thirds of the way down. If stacked addition is new to them, start here.
The pairs include two that land exactly on ten, 2 + 8 and 5 + 5, and a few gentle ones like 1 + 1 and 4 + 0 to open with. Nothing crosses ten, so the answer box never needs more than one digit and the format stays simple while the idea sinks in.
