Adding Down: Kindergarten Addition Worksheet to 10

About this worksheet

Twenty stacked problems in a five by four grid. There is no printed box here, just the line and open space beneath it, so the child writes their answer straight onto the page.

That open space is more forgiving than it sounds. A five year old writing a 6 or a 9 often needs more room than a small box allows, and squeezing into one leads to cramped numbers and rubbed-out holes in the paper. Letting them write freely under the line keeps the focus on the adding.

Sums stay within ten throughout, so there is no carrying anywhere on the page. Four of the twenty land exactly on ten, and the pairs are well mixed: 8 + 2 and 2 + 8 are both here, a quiet way of showing that the order of the two numbers does not change the total.
