Twenty stacked addition problems, four across and five down, each with a line to write the answer beneath. Light, open and unhurried, with nothing on the page except the math.

It pairs naturally with the other stacked sheet in this set, same layout and same twenty problems’ worth of work, but an entirely different set of pairs. Print one this week and the other next, and a child gets the repetition without recognizing the questions.

Sums reach ten four times, at 7 + 3, 5 + 5, 6 + 4 and 9 + 1, and never go beyond, so no problem needs carrying. A few of the pairs are doubles, 4 + 4 and 3 + 3 and 2 + 2, which most children answer from memory long before they can add anything else at speed.
