Pond Ordinal Numbers Worksheet: Which Way to Count

About this worksheet

Position depends on where you start, and that is the one thing an ordinal worksheet usually never says out loud. Here the arrow moves: ducklings are counted from the left, frogs from the right, lily pads from the left again, and a child who answers on autopilot gets three of the five rows wrong.

Every row holds six pictures while the questions only ask as far as fifth, so the answer is never simply the one on the end. It is a good page to reach for when a child has ordinal words down cold and the practice has started to feel automatic.
