About this worksheet

Five rows, each with a group of farm animals on the left and three big numbered circles on the right: four ducks, two goats, five bunnies, one donkey and three turkeys. The child counts the group and circles the number that matches.

The answer is circled rather than written, which is the point of putting it at Pre-K. A three or four year old can count a group of five reliably before they can form the numeral for it, and this sheet lets them show what they know without the pencil work getting in the way. The animals are drawn at different sizes and angles too, so a child has to actually count them rather than read a tidy row.

What students will practice

  • Count small groups up to five
  • Match a quantity to its written number
  • Circle the answer, no writing required
