About this worksheet

Eight sentences about a day at the park, each with a small picture at the right showing exactly where things are. A girl on a swing, a dog under a bench, a bird flying over the pond, a kite caught in a tree, a cat behind a trunk, a ball between two cones. The word bank across the top holds eight words and there are eight blanks, so each word is used once and a child can cross them off as they go.

That one-to-one setup is what makes this sheet self-correcting. A child who guesses “under” twice will run out of words before the last line and has to go back and rethink. Prepositions are hard to define and easy to see, which is why every sentence here comes with a picture rather than a definition.

What students will practice

  • Choose the preposition that matches a picture
  • Use a word bank without repeating a word
  • Read a short sentence and fill the blank
