About this worksheet

A cat on the fence, a pig in the mud, a hen under the wagon, a bird over the barn, a horse behind the fence, a sheep between two haystacks, a goat next to the barn and a dog in front of its doghouse. Eight farm sentences, eight color pictures, and the same eight place words in a yellow band across the top.

The farm animals do real work here. A child who is still sounding out words can look at the picture and know what the answer means before they can read the sentence that describes it, which keeps them in the grammar rather than stuck on decoding. This one prints in color, so it suits a single copy at the kitchen table more than a class set.
