About this worksheet

Six flat sentences (the dog barked, we ate our lunch, the team cheered) and an eight-word adverb bank to lift them with. The child rewrites each one in full on the line below, so the whole sentence gets written out rather than a single word dropped into a gap.

This is the sheet in the set that asks for production rather than recognition, which makes it the one to save for last. Part B then takes the bank away and names two adverbs to build sentences around, quietly and tomorrow, one telling how and one telling when, so the child has to supply the sentence and not just the slot.

What students will practice

  • Add an adverb to a plain sentence
  • Choose adverbs that tell how, when or where
  • Write two original sentences using a given adverb
