About this worksheet

Eight scrambled adverbs, each with a clue sentence underneath. A rabbit hops yickulq across the field, Mom sings flotsy to the baby, a firefighter walks yelvarb into the smoke. The clue never hands over the word, it narrows the field, so the letters still have to be worked out properly.

Six of the eight are -ly adverbs of manner and two are not, which is what the closing instruction is for: circle the two that tell where or when. Those are outside and early, and they are precisely the two a child is likely to leave uncircled after spending the whole page hunting for -ly endings.

What students will practice

  • Unscramble adverbs letter by letter
  • Use a clue sentence to confirm the word
  • Spot adverbs of place and time
