About this worksheet

Marcus walks home with his older sister, hangs up his backpack, washes his hands, eats apple slices and cheese, does his homework, and then takes his dog Pepper around the block before dinner. It is an ordinary afternoon told in order, and that is the point: nothing in it gets in the way of the reading.

All four questions have their answer sitting in one sentence of the passage, so this is the sheet to use for building the habit of going back to the text instead of answering from memory. Question four is the one to watch, because it depends on the word after. A child who writes that Marcus does his homework has found the right sentence and read it backwards.
