Busy Bees Nonfiction Reading Comprehension for Grade 3

About this worksheet

A longer nonfiction passage split into five short paragraphs: what a hive is, the three kinds of honeybees and their jobs, what worker bees do all day, the wiggle dance that points other bees toward flowers, and the fact that one bee makes only about a twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in her whole life.

Two multiple choice questions come first, then three that need a written answer. The paragraphs each carry one idea, so a child who is stuck can be pointed to the right paragraph rather than the right sentence, which is a good step up in independence. The last question asks why it takes a whole team to fill a jar, and the answer depends on the final fact.
