About this worksheet
Priya has worked all week on a report about sea turtles, and on Friday she has to read it in front of the class. Her hands shake, her teacher suggests three slow breaths, a friend gives her a thumbs-up, and it goes fine. Plenty of third graders know that feeling, which makes this an easy story to talk about afterwards.
The four questions are multiple choice with three options each. Question two never uses the word nervous in the passage, so a child has to get there from shaky hands and a stomach full of butterflies, which is a gentle first step into reading how a character feels rather than being told.
