Jada borrows a shiny scooter from her neighbor, hits a bump, and puts a long scratch down the side. She thinks about covering it with a sticker and then walks it back to tell Mrs. Kim instead. It is a short story with a real choice in the middle, so it doubles as a conversation about honesty.

Question three is the one that catches quick readers, because the story mentions what Jada thought about doing before it says what she did. The last question asks how she felt at the end, and the answer, relieved, is never written on the page. A child has to get there from felt much lighter. Prints in black and white, so it is light on ink for a class set.
