About this worksheet
Hidden Worlds Underground explains how rainwater slowly dissolves limestone into tunnels and caverns, how dripping water builds stalactites and stalagmites, and why some cave fish have no eyes at all. The passage is split under three headings, and it hands over a memory trick for the two tricky words: c for ceiling, g for ground.
This is the text features sheet of the set. Question four asks which heading you would look under to learn about cave fish, and question three has children label a cross-section diagram from a word bank. Question five is a quiet inference, because the passage never says why cave fish can do without eyes, so the answer has to be worked out.
