About this worksheet
Oliver builds a Homework Machine out of a cardboard box, two paper towel tubes, a flashlight and a whole roll of silver tape, slides in his math worksheet and presses the button he drew on with a marker. The worksheet comes back with every problem answered. His mom points out that, according to the machine, seven times eight equals pizza.
The joke only lands if a child notices little sister Bea, who watched from the doorway and turns up with silver tape in her hair and a pencil behind her ear. Question three asks who really answered the problems and for two clues that prove it, which is inference in its purest form. Children tend to enjoy this one enough to read it twice.
