About this worksheet
On the first chilly Saturday of October, Jada, her cousin Marco and their friend Wren take on a corn maze with two miles of paths and a flag to wave if they get lost. Forty minutes in, every path looks the same. Jada notices the late sun on their backs, remembers the exit is on the west side, and turns them around.
It is a clean problem and solution story, and questions three and four ask for exactly that. Question two is about the cornstalks that towered over them like green-and-gold walls, and the last question asks why Wren felt proud holding a flag they never had to wave. A nice pick for October, with a bit of science about the sun tucked into the plot.
