About this worksheet

No words anywhere on the page, which is the point. Five rows, each opening with a circled picture: moon against sun, cloud and spoon; box against bear, fox and bag; van against pan, truck and bike; pig against cow, brush and wig; and nose against eye, rose and ear. The child colors the match.

This is the version to reach for when a child can hear rhymes but cannot yet read them, and it is also the one that works in the car or at a restaurant table with a single crayon. Name each picture together before starting, since a picture only rhymes once everyone agrees what to call it.

What students will practice

  • Hear a rhyme without reading a single word
  • Name a picture, then hold its ending sound
  • Color the answer instead of writing it
