Thumbs Up or Down: Rhyming Words Worksheet

About this worksheet

A waving robot in the corner and eight pairs laid out two across: bug and rug, moon and star, cake and nest, sun and bun, frog and log, duck and kite, boat and leaf, bee and tree. Each pair has a thumbs up and a thumbs down box, and the child colors one of them.

Coloring a thumb is a gentler answer than ticking a box, and it gives a child who is unsure something to do with their hands while they think. Four pairs rhyme. The instructions on this sheet use the British spelling “colour.”

What students will practice

• Say both words out loud before deciding
• Color thumbs up for a rhyme, thumbs down for no rhyme
