About this worksheet
Four children down the left show happy, sad, mad and surprised, each with the word underneath. Four animals on the right, a puppy, a kitten, a bunny and a bear, show the same feelings in a different order. The child draws a line from each child to the animal who feels the same way.
Matching a child to an animal means looking past the face itself and finding the feeling it shows, which is a small but real step in reading emotions. The grumpy puppy and the tearful bear are the two that make children slow down. Dots beside every face give little hands a clear place to start and finish each line.
Simple line art in black and white, it can be colored in once the matching is done.
